nightbox There’s a whole lot of synth-pop joy and shaking going on compliments of Nightbox an Ireland->Canadian five piece who’ve recently released “Burning,” the first song from their forthcoming debut full length. With an EP that was produced by Sebastien Grainger (Death From Above 1979) and AL-P (MSTRKRFT) under their belts, the band’s music and is packed with delicious dance floor grooves. Get into the groove.

Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes) and Ruby Amanfu team up on new single for Third Man

Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes and Ruby Amanfu have teamed up for two sides of new soulful blues music for Third Man records, out on March 12th.

Side A features their take on “I Wonder,” originally performed by Rodriguez, subject of the Oscar-winning documentary Searching For Sugar Man, while side B finds Howard also picking up her acoustic guitar as the two sing their version of “When My Man Comes Home,” originally recorded by Memphis Minnie, the immortal composer of “When The Levee Breaks” among others. The single also features The Buzzards’ Dominic Davis on electric and upright bass, Daru Jones on drums, Cory Younts on piano, Ikey Owens on keys and Hammond B3 and Fats Kaplin on electric guitar, lap steel and mandolin.
