AgesandAges has the spirits to move you

21 Apr

AgesandAges remind me of Three Dog Night. Sort of. They also have some of that liberating joyful verve that Edward Sharpe and his Magnetic Zeroes have. On the Portland band’s debut album Alright You Restless on Knitting Factory Records they have an up-with-people-age-of-aquarius vibe that’s massively infectious and melodic. The seven piece have got the spirit that moves them; with hand claps, group singing, funky/folky guitars, undeniably catchy singalongs. Sometimes lead singer Tim Perry has some of that old time Gordon Gano thing going on, and most of the time this is a band that, with a voice of their own and oodles of energy, it won’t take you long to get in to. Jamboree rock, my friends. Get in on it now.
