The Black Swans have launched a Kickstarter campaign to get their new album, Don’t Blame The Stars, pressed on vinyl. The CD version of the album is coming out on Misra Records in April. They really wanted to put the album out on cassette (perhaps they will), but the band decided to go the vinyl route.
The Columbus, Ohio band dig deep in to soul and folk and country and an assortment of roots music for their inspiration. They like Curtis Mayfield, Willie Nelson, Michael Hurley and Roy Orbison. They’ve always sort of reminded me of Tindersticks or Nick Cave if Nick grew up in Columbus, Ohio and listened to old Lee Hazelwood records. Pour yourself some whiskey and check out some of the tunes below, and their Kickstarter video here. The video is a hoot. And if you’re so inclined, support the music.
