for otis, one of the great soul men of all time

10 Dec

On December 10, 1967, Otis Redding was 26 years old. 26. His plane, en route from Cleveland to Wisconsin plunged into a lake and he along with some of his band mates, his manager and the pilot were killed. Three days before he died, Redding cut “Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay.” A month after he recorded it, it was released and became his only number one Billboard hit. That’s only one part of the long legacy of great music Redding left behind. He was truly one of the great soul men of all time.
