Cheyenne Marie Mize is a singer-songwriter from Louisville who has worked with Bonnie “Prince” Billy on a collection of late 19th century American parlor music handpicked by Mize and Oldham and with Ben Sollee on his Dear Companion record. Mize has an album of her own coming out called Before Lately on 12 October via sonaBLAST!. I’m impressed by Mize’s confidence and stories; she’s got a musical vibe that sometimes reminds me of Norah Jones’s rootsier side, and Mize has a tender, sometimes bluesy, sometimes darkness on the edge of her town.
