For a mesmerizing 37 minutes on his new album, Zach Tillman AKA Pearly Gate Music drags you lovingly through the indie-rock dust bowl. Sort of like Bon Iver or early Roy Orbison or a another side of the sparse folkness that you’ll hear on Zach’s older brother J. Tillman’s (an astounding singer & songwriter on his own when he’s not drumming in Fleet Foxes) records, Zach’s self-titled album was recently released on Barsuk Records. It’s about crooning and dreams and the occasional skronk of electric guitar.
