I’ve finally had a few go rounds with the muchly hyped sounds of Alberta, Canada’s Women. Their self-titled album, recorded by Chad VanGaalen was released on Flemish Eye Records back in July and was released on Jagjaguwar last month. This is some cool skronky shit. It’s noisy, poppy, lo-fi, hi-fi, cacophonous and droning, sometimes out of tune, sometimes melodic as The Hollies and always right on time. Reminds me a tad of Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 from the the Golden Era of Indie Rock B-90’s (before the 90’s). What’s your take?
